Seven Girl Scouts from northeast Texas, aged 13 to 18, traveled to Europe as part of a council sponsored trip this summer. The scouts were from various troops and each were responsible for budgeting and planning for their own trip costs.
The local Girl Scouts had the opportunity to explore London and Paris’ best tourist sites while mingling with sister scouts from Houston, south Texas, and girls from Europe. Trip highlights included seeing London Bridge, Buckingham Palace, an acting workshop at the Globe Theater, and a workshop at Pax Lodge, the Girl Guide/Girl Scout World Centre in London.
“Pax Lodge was amazing – just the surreal feeling of standing in a World Centre – going somewhere far away only to join a hundred other people there for the same reason you are – that’s awesome. Pax Lodge felt more like home than anywhere else we went” said Josie, a 16 year old scout from Denton.
The group then made their way to Paris via train to tour the Eiffel Tower, Versailles, the Louvre, Disneyland Paris, and met with a representative of USA Girl Scout Overseas Paris.
