Allison chose to go to CampHERO in Madison, Wisconsin because of her interest in emergency medicine. “[CampHERO] offered me an opportunity to try something new– some of which I could do nowhere else. It was definitely a unique summer camp” said Allison.

At CampHERO Allison had the opportunity to partner with real world professional female firefighters, paramedics, police officers and dispatchers. She learned firsthand what it’s like to work in these amazing fields.

Allison learned how to wrangle a gushing fire hose, strap a victim to a backboard, and how to chase down a suspect on a foot pursuit. She enjoyed a week full of extraordinary experiences, “Every minute was incredible. Yet, if I had to choose, I would probably say the fire-training exercises were my personal favorite. We got to repel from the top of a building and cut up a car using the Jaws of Life, among many more activities.”

“I think every Girl Scout should attend a Destination. Each Destination gives you a chance to take a trip made of unique experiences you might not get anywhere else. You also meet a lot of incredible people. By the time you get home, you have some incredible memories to share, as well leadership skills that will stay useful your entire life.”
