This week kicked- off the first week of Money Camp for GSNETX. This camp is written and offered by financial experts to fourth and fifth grade Girl Scouts who would like to learn about money management. Not to worry if you missed the session this week, there are still other sessions available! Money Camp – 9a-12p
- Southern Sector Service Center—July 15-19, 2013
- East Texas Regional Center—July 29-August 2, 2013
- Texas Bank and Trust in Longview—August 12-16, 2013
The day that I visited the camp the girls were learning about ‘Macking’, short for making and tracking money. Through group games, races, and an adaption of the three little pigs, the girls learned how to allocate their money and determine the difference between wants and needs. By the end of the session the girls were experts on how to make their money work to their benefit! Money Camp provided these girls with the opportunity to learn about goal setting and money management in a fun environment. They learned how setting a good financial foundation now will help them reach their goals in the future. In addition to girls learning and practicing how to be good money managers, they will also earn their Savvy Shopper and Business Owner Badges this week!
